The head tea blender at the Lavender Lounge Tea Company in Dana Point wooed judges in Las Vegas last week with her "Matcha Ginger MargariTea" in the World Tea Expo’s Top Tea Cocktail Competition. Out of roughly 50 entries, Stephanie Knight was chosen to participate alongside 15 other contenders in a contest focusing on tasty concoctions guaranteed to please the palate. Knight created the "Matcha Ginger MargariTea" from her original non-alcoholic version served as a feature drink for the month of March at both Lavender Lounge Tea company locations in Dana Point and San Clemente.
Knight said, "I didn’t enter the contest expecting to win. I simply thought it would be fun to share my creation with people from all around the world.” Up against many professional mixologists, Knight, who has been perfecting her culinary skills in mixology for five years said, "I felt like I was in my league competing with the best of the industry. I’m already working on a winning cocktail for next year’s competition."
The "Matcha ginger MargariTea" recipe can be viewed on the Lavender Lounge Tea company website here.
